Many farmers are interested in the prospects for switchgrass as a feedstock for cellulosic ethanol. The University of Tennessee is currently conducting a pilot project for such a use. But what if demand for cellulosic ethanol falters or farmers can’t sell all their switchgrass? Can switchgrass be used as a forage instead?
