Registration is open for the seventh annual Great Lakes Crop Summit, which will be held Jan. 29-30 at Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mount Pleasant, Mich. The deadline to reserve hotel rooms and receive the early registration price is Jan. 7.

GLCS is the only event in Michigan exclusively focused on corn, soybean and wheat growers. It is hosted by the Corn Marketing Program of Michigan, the Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee and the Michigan Wheat Program. Last year, more than 1,000 people from across Michigan attended.

This year, GLCS is proud to feature two keynote speakers who will bring a broader perspective on the global agriculture industry. The keynote speakers will be:

  • Joe Bastardi, chief forecaster at WeatherBell Analytics, "2020 Vision on Weather and Climate"

  • Denton Cinquegrana, chief oil analyst at Oil Price Information Service, "The Future of E15 and Other Fuel Fear Factors"

Breakout sessions will cover a range of topics, including marketing, pest management, technology, business management, research, agronomy, farm family management, and soil and water issues.

There also will be sessions specifically designed for corn, soybean and wheat growers. Restricted-use pesticide and certified crop adviser credits are available for attendance. In addition to educational sessions, the conference showcases the latest agricultural products and services at a trade show that features more than 60 exhibitors.

The Michigan Corn Growers Association and the Michigan Soybean Association also will host their 2020 annual meetings during GLCS.
