SPECIALTY GRANTS: The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is accepting comments on the Michigan Specialty Crop Block Grant Program. Jennifer Kiel

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has announced a public input opportunity regarding the Michigan Specialty Crop Block Grant Program.

Public input is being sought to help ensure effective program priorities. Comments should be emailed to [email protected] by 5 p.m. Dec. 27.

The MDARD Specialty Crop Block Grant Program is federally funded and awards funds to projects to enhance the competitiveness of Michigan specialty crops. Specialty crops include fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture and nursery crops (including floriculture). 

Last year, funding priorities were focused on market enhancement, research, and training and education.
