Farm Futures is kicking off its 2021 Feedback from the Field series. Using links listed below, producers can regularly provide insights about growing conditions and crop progress to other growers across the country. Farm Futures will provide a map to readers to view current and past crowd-sourced responses, updated daily.

The tool makes it easy and accessible to share information, whether that be from a tractor cab, farm office, or even the couch. Nearly 600 responses were recorded in the 2020 series. And while the data is not scientific, the information will deliver a centralized view of cross-country growing conditions to farmers as they, along with other market watchers, gauge crop conditions for the 2021 growing season.

Farm Futures will also provide a weekly roundup of the latest Feedback from the Field responses to highlight current growing conditions. The weekly column will feature analysis on USDA’s weekly crop progress report and current futures market and weather conditions as well as farmer insights.

Feedback from the Field provides Farm Futures readers with on-the-ground insights to market-moving weather events as they happen. Iowa growers were quick to respond following last year’s derecho windstorm in August. And FFTF followers will recall the first signs of current drought damage that were reported by farmers in the West last summer.

How is corn and soybean planting going in your area? Has your farm accumulated enough moisture to support pasture conditions? What is the condition of your winter wheat crop?

These are the questions answered by farmers in the Feedback from the Field series. Want to share crop conditions from your corner of the world? Click here for the survey link.

As soon as responses come in, they will be added to Farm Futures’ Google MyMap at this link.

We can’t wait to hear from you!
