We're turning our attention to Michigan this week with two stories from Jennifer Kiel, American Agriculturist. Kiel covers the western half of the territory for the brand and provides content for the digital brands Ohio Farmer and Michigan Farmer.

In this episode she shares some interesting insights on the Michigan sugarbeet industry which is having a banner year, but it's causing some headaches for processors and producers. She offers a look at the choices being made for a crop that in this reach is hitting new record yield levels.

Then she shares news of a new series she's started that will be of interest to many. The Farmer Veteran Coalition gives grants to returning veterans who want to farm. Her plan is to connect with grant recipients in her region to learn more. She shares insight on the program, what she's covering and what she's learning. It's going to be an interesting series to follow.

Give it a listen.
