INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS: Beck’s invites people in the agriculture industry to one or more of its PFR Insight Meetings in January.Fran O’Leary

A sound strategy starts with having the right goals, according to Beck's  — goals like achieving superior weed control and increased returns on investment in 2020.

Beck’s invites those in agriculture industry to one or more of its Practical Farm Research (PFR) Insight Meetings. Producers will discover strategies that will bring the power of PFR data and weed control to your farm, the company says.

PFR Proven strategies. This year, Beck's has identified 10 strategies it believes every farmer should consider in 2020. These PFR Proven strategies consistently pay, year after year, and will help increase the return on investment just by making small changes in your operation, Beck's says, which will also highlight some standout products and practices from its 2019 PFR Proven class. New studies will explore things like high-speed planting, high-speed closing wheels, delayed planting, and sulfur on corn and soybeans.

Corn topics include early planting, closing wheels, starter 2x2x2 (both sides of row), sidedress nitrogen and fungicide applications.

Soybean topics include row width, seed treatments, seeding rate, planting date, and fungicides at R3.

Herbicide strategies. Weed management is one of the most complex decisions growers will continue to face. With the choices in technologies, it can be difficult selecting the right trait for your operation. Beck's says the meetings will offer help for growers to develop a plan to reduce weed pressure, giving crops the opportunity to thrive. In its presentation on managing weed resistance risks, staff will cover topics including “The Power in the ‘Pre’ (preemergence applications),” overlapping residuals and rotating trait platforms.

Beck’s will host 113 meetings across its 11-state marketing area in January. To find an event near you and to RSVP, visit bit.ly/beckspfrmtgs.
