Exciting news: You’ll have access to an innovative corn solution for 2023. Resicore® XL herbicide has received U.S. Environmental Protection Agency registration and key state approvals. The preplant, preemergence and postemergence product will be available to buy this year.

Benefits of Resicore XL Herbicide

Resicore XL delivers four key benefits:

  • Powerful weed control. Resicore XL has three proven modes of action to control more than 75 broadleaves and grasses with up to eight weeks of residual activity. The solution is powerful against resistant weeds, including Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, marestail and giant ragweed.

  • A wider application window. Resicore XL is flexible to fit a variety of weed control programs. It can be applied on corn up to 24 inches tall. Farmers also can customize their application rates for added flexibility.

  • Increased crop safety. Resicore XL is formulated for increased crop safety with an encapsulated acetochlor. The lesser crop response will help achieve maximum yield potential.

  • Greater tank-mix compatibility. Resicore XL features greater tank-mix compatibility with micronutrients, including UAN and ammonium thiosulfate (ATS). The solution will also allow farmers to customize their weed management with compatible products like atrazine, glyphosate and other herbicides.

Hear From a Retailer

According to third-party research, Resicore herbicide was the most widely used corn herbicide in 2019 and 2020.1 So why introduce Resicore XL? Retailers and corn farmers report they love the powerful weed control Resicore provides, but asked for improvements. Corteva listened, keeping the three powerful modes of action while increasing the flexibility, crop safety and tank-mix compatibility.

Kyle Meece is the agronomy manager for United Prairie LLC in Tolono, Illinois. He tested Resicore XL in 2021 and says he was impressed.

“One of the biggest things I wanted to look at was if the performance was consistent from what we’ve seen in the past [with Resicore], because we’ve had tremendous success with the original product. But another item that is a big agronomic practice for us in east-central Illinois is: There’s an awful lot of ammonium thiosulfate — sulfur applications — made that will be applied directly with our Resicore, and we were having mixability issues. One of the nice parts of this new product is [Corteva has] addressed that.”

In addition to increased tank-mix compatibility, Meece says he was happy with the wider application window. Weather delays can be a struggle each season. He says it’s a relief to know Resicore XL can accommodate those delays.

“Having that flexibility in place gives you reassurance: ‘OK. If I don't get this done and the crop comes up, I've got a Plan B.’ And guess what? The Plan B is not much different. The Plan B is still Resicore XL,” Meece says. “And then it’s: ‘Well, Mother Nature didn’t work with us again; I’ve got to go to Plan C. Look, I don’t have to bring in new inventory or an all-new product lineup, all new adjuvants. I’ve still got this option.’”

And when it comes to weed control, Resicore XL is a powerful tool against the most difficult, resistant weeds his customers deal with, including waterhemp.

“We’re seeing the same weed control [as with Resicore],” Meece says. “But then to be able to be at that next level — to have the confidence that we can mix this together with another key product in our lineup that we’re using that’s maximizing our yields and have no issues anymore — that right there is just going to take it over the top.”
