Crop production group honors Warren, Donaldson

The Southern Crop Production Association's highest award for outstanding service to the organization by members has been awarded to Bo Warren and Trish Donaldson. The William C. Larue Award for 2005 was presented at the association's annual banquet at Orlando, Fla.

Named for the SCPA's secretary for many of the early years of the organization, the award is given annually to a member or members having exemplified “the highest standards of honor and integrity, materially assisting in the accomplishment of SCPA's goals.”

Warren, who this year joined the CropLife America organization in Washington, D.C., was formerly director of state affairs for SCPA.

“Our state affairs position is one of major importance, involving liaisons with companies and associations, state officials, and lobbyists,” says Ed Duskin, executive vice president of SCPA.

“Under Bo's direction, pesticide preemption laws have been enacted in all but one of our association states, and in 2005 seed preemption legislation was passed in five of our states and introduced in six others.

“He spent countless hours in Arkansas this past year, working on biotech-related activities. He has worked with various legislative and regulator personnel across the SCPA region to keep registration fees, biotech legislation, and spray drift regulations acceptable to the industry.”

Warren has also worked closely with company and state association specialists and paid lobbyists, Duskin says, and under his direction successful State Issues Summits have been held.

Trish Donaldson, the second Larue Award winner, serves as SCPA's executive assistant.

She was cited for her more than 10 years' service to the organization and overseeing its myriad of activities, including arrangements for all SCPA conferences, committee meetings and publications, maintenance of the association's Web site, and writing and publishing the organization's quarterly publication, “Focus,” and e-mail publication, “En Guard.”

“Trish does so many things for us, it's hard to list them all — and she does them all well,” Duskin says. “We're fortunate to have had the benefit of her talents and abilities for the past decade.”
