Surviving Farm Bill Changes Part I

With the passage of the Agricultural Act of 2014, the new farm bill, it has truly become a Brave New World for farmers, especially for cotton producers. The National Cotton Council is staging educational meetings for farmers across the Cotton Belt.

The first of those was held in Robstown in south Texas in late February. Farm Press' Logan Hawkes covered the meeting and filed a series of video reports, which will appear on southwestfarmpress.com in the days ahead. As you can see, the new farm bill provides significantly different delivery mechanisms than previous legislation.

In this video, Part I of the series, National Cotton Council Vice President Craig Brown provides an overview of producer options and changes in the cotton program's safety net, including an introduction into insurance products and the transition programs for 2014.
