Georgia corn and soybean producers are eyeing what could end up being record yields this year.

Georgia farmers who grow corn for grain are expected to produce 47.7 million bushels, down 9 percent from 2014. Georgia’s corn yield is forecast to average 180 bushels per acre. If the 180 bushels is realized, it will be a record high for Georgia, according to a report Aug. 12 by the National Agricultural Statistics Service Southern Region.

Georgia soybean production is predicted to be 14.5 million bushels, up 25 percent from last year. Soybean yield is on track to average a record high of 42 bushels per acre.

Georgia peanut production is forecast at 3.32 billion pounds, up 37 percent from 2014. Peach production is forecast up 10 percent from last year. Cotton production at 2.10 million bales is down 18 percent.

Alabama farmers growing corn for grain are predicted to produce 35.9 million bushels, down 21 percent from 2014. Yield is forecast to average 138 bushels per acre, a 21 bushel drop from last year’s record high yield.

Alabama cotton production at 500,000 bales is down 23 percent from last year. Peanut production is forecast at 742 million pounds, up 34 percent. Soybeans production at 19.2 million bushels is up 1 percent from last year. Peach production is forecast up 47 percent from last year.

Florida cotton production at 145,000 bales is down 24 percent from 2014. Peanut production is forecast at 625.3 million pounds, down 6 percent from 2014, according to the report.

North Carolina corn for grain production is forecast to be 88.6 million bushels, down 14 percent from last year. Corn yield is expected to average 115 bushels per acre, down 17 bushels per acre from last year, according to the North Carolina Agricultural Statistics Service.

North Carolina cotton production is forecast at 780,000 bales, down 22 percent from last year’s production. Cotton yield is expected to average 1,012 per acre, down 26 pounds from last year’s average.

North Carolina soybean production is expected to go 65.9 million bushels, down 5 percent from last year. Soybean yield is expected to average 36 bushels per acre, down 4 bushels from last year’s record yield.

South Carolina growers who grow corn for grain are forecast to produce 29.4 million bushels, down 10 percent from 2014. Cotton production at 420,000 bales is down 20 percent. Peanut production is forecast at 374million pounds, down 9 percent from 2014. Soybeans production at 11.1 million bushels is down 28 percent from last year. Yield is forecast to average 27 bushels per acre, down 8 bushels from last year’s record high 35 bushels per acre. Peach production is forecast up 5 percent from last year.
