The 2011 crop year – hopefully – will go down as a once-in-a-lifetime experience for cotton producers in Texas. For that reason, growers should not be basing their irrigation plans for 2012 on what happened in 2011. Texas Extension Economist Jay Yates discussed an ongoing irrigation study and what might lie ahead for producers on the High Plains in a presentation at the Cotton Economics and Marketing Conference at this year’s Beltwide.
