When to apply the final cotton irrigation and late season insect management are the key topics for a pair of San Joaquin Valley cotton production meetings next week.

The first is Aug. 10 at Hodel’s Country Restaurant in Bakersfield. The second is Aug. 11 at Comfort Inn, Hanford.

Sponsored by University of California Cooperative Extension in Kings, Kern and Tulare counties, breakfast and meeting registration begin at 7:15 a.m. The program will run from 8 - 9:15 a.m.

Speakers will be UC state cotton specialist Bob Hutmacher; UC entomologist Larry Godfrey; farm advisors Steve Wright (Tulare and Kings counties) and Brian Marsh (Kern County); and Pete Goodell, UC IPM specialist.
