Dr. Stephen Searcy, head of the department of biological and agricultural engineering at Texas A&M University, has been elected to the Texas Plant Protection Association board of directors.

“We are extremely pleased to have Dr. Searcy join our group of outstanding leaders on the TPPA Board,” said Ray Smith, chairman of the Texas Plant Protection Association. “He brings extensive expertise in precision agriculture technology adoption and research in logistics for bioenergy, cotton engineering.”

Searcy has been on the Texas A&M faculty since 1980 and is a registered professional engineer in Texas and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology.

Searcy earned two bachelor’s degrees, one in agricultural mechanization and another in agricultural engineering, and a master’s degree in agricultural mechanization from the University of Missouri. He earned a doctorate in agricultural engineering from Oklahoma State University.
