Oklahoma producer begins cotton harvest, diversifies with new crop

Granite FFA students help transplant chile peppers on Mark Thornbrough's farm.

Harvest is underway on Mark Thornbrough's farm near Granite, Okla. Farm Press caught up with him as he was stripping his dryland cotton on a windy, warm October afternoon.

Watch the video to learn more about his season, planting chile peppers for the first time and sharing "custody" of a stripper baler.

Also, featured throughout the video are photos of his wife Meredith with their four children,  who came to the field for a turn to ride the cotton stripper with their daddy.
