With more than 900 complaints of dicamba injury in one state alone in 2017, it’s obvious not everyone is following the recommendations for applying the herbicide on Xtend crops in some of the Mid-south states.
Bob Montgomery, technology development representative for Monsanto, talked about the need for using air induction nozzles for spraying dicamba during an interview t a min-field day at a Monsanto trial near East Prairie, Mo.
Dr. Montgomery said the older fan-jet nozzles that are common on many spray-rigs in the Mid-South can produce too many fines that can be blown on to sensitive crops, compared to the newer air induction nozzles that produce more coarse droplets and reduce “fines.”
