The producer board of Cotton Incorporated has elected Bernie Jordan as its new chairman of the organization.

Bernie Jordan, a cotton producer from Yazoo City, Miss., will serve as the next chairman of Cotton Incorporated. Jordan was elected to the two-year chairman’s term at a meeting in Charlotte, NC this past December. He will replace outgoing chairman Dahlen Hancock of Ropesville, Texas.  “Bernie has a wealth of knowledge on the key issues and concerns facing the modern cotton industry,” says Cotton Incorporated president and CEO J. Berrye Worsham.  “His knowledge combined with demonstrated leadership within national and regional cotton organizations make him well-suited for his role as Chairman.”

Jordan, a native of Yazoo City, Miss., has been a director on the Cotton Incorporated Board for more than 21 years.  In addition to his role on the Cotton Incorporated Board, Bernie Jordan brings a range of industry experience and leadership expertise to his new role.

Since 1983 he has been co-owner and partner of Jordan Farms, a diversified row crop farm with interests in Yazoo and Humphreys Counties, as well as Jordan Land & Timber. He is co-owner and President of Yazoo Planters Gin Company.  Jordan is also a director and treasurer of the Mississippi Boll Weevil Management Corporation and serves on the boards of a range of regional cotton organizations including: Delta Council; the Yazoo County Farm Bureau; Delta Wildlife; and the Yazoo City advisory committee for Staplcotn.

After graduating from Mississippi State University, where he majored in Agricultural Economics, Jordan returned to his family farm in 1979. Today, Jordan and his wife, Susan, reside in Northwest Yazoo County.

Other Cotton Incorporated board officers include: Van Murphy, Ga., vice chair; James Johnson, NM, secretary and Marvin Beyer, Texas, Treasurer.
