The University of Arizona (UA) in La Paz County, Ariz. will hold a mid-season crop and pest management workshop July 13 in Parker.

Agenda:

8:00 - Cotton variety trial update (Linda Masters, UA)

8:30 - Summer insect pests in low-desert alfalfa (Ayman Mostafa, UA)              

9:00 - Cotton plant mapping and application of PGR and harvest aid chemicals (Sam Wang, UA)                         

9:30 – The role of natural enemies in insect pest management decision making (Peter Ellsworth)

10:00 - Break

10:15 – Late-season cotton diseases - coping with Texas root rot (Mary Olsen, UA)

10:30 - Planning for late season climate impacts (Paul Brown, UA)     

11:00 - Weed management in cotton and alfalfa (Bill McCloskey, UA)                       

Noon – Steak lunch

1:00 - Spray nozzle box demonstration (Bill McCloskey)

           Nozzles, spray droplets, and pesticide activity (Pedro Andrade, UA)

1:30 - Fusarium outlook and management (Mary Olsen)                        .

The workshop will be held at the Parker Elks Lodge, 714 Laguna, in Parker.

There is no admission charge.
