Kelli Merritt, a fourth-generation farmer and commodity broker, will be the featured speaker for the monthly Ag Market Network cotton market teleconference at 7:30 a.m. CDT, Wednesday, April 13.

“Merritt’s first-hand experience of hedging as a farmer herself offers a unique perspective to the markets,” says Pat McClatchy, moderator for the monthly Ag Market Network teleconference. “Her focus is on bottom line farming and using what the markets offer to help add to profitability for producers.”

Merritt will review the latest USDA Supply & Demand and Crop Production reports and will discuss how farmers can take advantage of the cotton rally to hedge their crops.

Joining Merritt will be the Ag Market Network’s marketing panel: Dr. O. A. Cleveland, professor emeritus at Mississippi State University; Dr. Johnson Robinson, professor and Extension specialist/cotton marketing at Texas A & M University; H.W. “Kip” Butts, senior cotton analyst and director of energy services with Informa Economics; Jarral Neeper, president, Calcot, Ltd.; and Patrick McClatchy, executive director, Ag Market Network.
