“This is your house. This is the house that you built.”
Those are statements that are repeated several times when cotton producers tour the headquarters of Cotton Incorporated, the research facility built by cotton research and promotion fund dollars in Cary, N.C.
These are tough times in the cotton business. A deep recession in 2008 led to cutbacks in consumer purchases. Then high cotton prices in 2010 and 2011 caused textile mills to look to alternatives to cotton fiber.
