The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has expanded the use of Enlist Duo herbicide to include Enlist cotton after previously registering the technology for use on Enlist corn and Enlist soybeans in 15 states.

Enlist Duo herbicide combines glyphosate, a new 2,4-D choline and glufosinate. It also has Colex-D technology, which limits off-target drift and lowers volatility.

The EPA action expands the use of Enlist Duo on Enlist corn and Enlist soybeans to 19 additional states for a total of 34 states. This covers a majority of the cotton, corn and soybean acres in the United States, according to a Jan. 13 statement by Dow AgroSciences. Once all necessary state registrations are received, growers in the following states will have access to the technology on cotton, soybeans and corn that contain the Enlist trait:

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

The Enlist cotton trait will be available this spring in a number of PhytoGen brand varieties stacked with Genuity Roundup Ready Flex and WideStrike 3 Insect Protection. Dow will launch Enlist corn and Enlist soybeans upon receipt of pending import approvals.
