The latest Arizona Agri-Weekly report from the Phoenix, Ariz. Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, released July 11.

Field crops

Squaring has occurred on about three-fourths of Arizona’s cotton acreage, below the five-year average of 80 percent. Thirty-two percent of the acreage has set bolls, mostly along the Colorado River area. The condition of the cotton crop remains fair to excellent.

Alfalfa condition is also fair to excellent. Harvesting is active on over three-fourths of the acreage across the state.

Vegetable, fruit, and specialty crops

Arizona growers harvested cantaloupe, honeydew, and other melons.

Weather summary

Temperatures were mostly above normal for the week ending July 10, ranging from 1 degree below normal at Parker to 9 degrees above normal at Grand Canyon.

The highest temperature was 112 degrees at Phoenix. The lowest reading was 48 degrees at Flagstaff.

Precipitation was recorded in all 22 weather stations except Canyon De Chelly. The least precipitation was recorded in Coolidge with 0.02 inches. The most precipitation was recorded in Tucson with 2.04 inches.

All weather stations across Arizona, except Kingman and Roll, have below normal precipitation to date.
