Six Mid-South gins were 2012 winners of the Diamond Award for safety — the highest award presented by the Southern Cotton Ginners Association.

"You're in a very elite group," said Larry Davis, SCGA safety director, at a luncheon held at the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show to honor safety winners. "To earn this award, a gin must have been in the highest score range for five years in a row.

"To have this many gins consistently scoring at the highest level is a tribute to the management and employees for all the time, training, and hard work they've devoted to making safety a daily concern."

A sixth winner of the Diamond Award, Cotton Growers Inc., Dell, Ark., wasn't present for the photos.
