High-Horsepower Tractor
JCB introduces the Fastrac 7270, a new model in the Fastrac 7000 series tractors. Offering all the benefits of the 7000 series, the 7270 is powered by a 6.7L Cummins 6-cylinder engine. It has a maximum power output of 270 hp.

All tractors in the 7000 series, including the new 7270, have all-around self-leveling suspension. The tractors maintain full suspension travel at all times, preventing front-end lift and nose lowering. An all-new chassis supports the suspension set-up, as well as a bigger-capacity rear axle and 20,000-lb. rear and optional 7,700-lb. front implement linkage systems.

A four-range, 6-speed, powershift transmission provides a fingertip-controlled power shuttle with 24 forward and nine reverse speeds. Using a touch-screen monitor, different operating modes can be selected.

The cab offers seat-mounted controls and a touch-screen information and control monitor. The armrest includes an MP3 player connection and a mobile-phone charge point.

Guidance System and RTK Radio
Now available from John Deere is the iSteer, an active implement guidance system, and StarFire 450 RTK radio system for enhanced RTK signal coverage.

The iSteer increases repeatability and accuracy of the implement in straight-track applications. It consists of an implement receiver and hydraulic implement steering system that enables automatic position correction in the field independently of the tractor’s A/B line position.

iSteer is completely integrated with approved John Deere tractors and requires a StarFire iTC RTK system to operate.

The StarFire 450 RTK radio is designed to work on a vehicle or as a base station to increase RTK signal coverage and maintain operation accuracy in areas with rolling terrain and/or in dense foliage conditions. Features include a 2-watt radio with LED diagnostic lights and optional magnetic rover antenna for mobile use. An optional in-line 50-watt amplifier and high-gain fiberglass antenna are available for base station use.

Soil Moisture Monitor
Spectrum Technologies’ new WatchDog 1000 Series Logger soil moisture station allows for irrigation monitoring, comparing and evaluating soil moisture at multiple levels in the root zone.

Eight models offer degree-day tracking and monitoring of site-specific microclimate data. All models record over 10,500 intervals of data (219 days at 30-minute intervals).

Guidance System
New from TeeJet Technologies is the Matrix guidance system with RealView Guidance Over Video, which allows growers to monitor what’s ahead or difficult-to-see machine parts or operations while at the same time viewing guidance information. Two models are available: 570G and 840G.

Features include two screen sizes (5.7- or 8.4-in.) with options for four or eight cameras, touch-screen control, high-resolution screen viewable under tough lighting conditions, built-in lightbar for full-time guidance no matter what’s on display and a split-screen, four-camera view on the 840G model.

Matrix is the interface for the FieldPilot assisted steering system from TeeJet and can easily be installed on older tractors. It can be economically upgraded with automatic boom section control for use with sprayers and spreaders, too.

Expanded Tractor Lines
Massey Ferguson and Challenger have expanded their tractor lines with the 7400 series and MT500B series, respectively. The new models come standard with continuously variable transmission (CVT), tractor management, Agco SISU Power engines, as well as operator comforts.

The 7497 and 7499 models from Massey and MT585B and MT595B models from Challenger are powered by a 7.4L 74CTA engine. The engine’s power and torque optimize fuel consumption and max power at lower rpm. CVT and tractor management allow the operator to determine specific ground speed and optimum rpm. A new active stop feature stops forward and reverse travel by simply raising the shuttle lever.

Rubber padding and mounts reduce cab noise and vibration.

Pivot Rotator Sprinkler
The R3000 Rotator is new from Nelson Irrigation. The rotating R3000 features patented plate geometry, providing wider throw distance and built-in uniformity.

Offering a wider wetted pattern than spray heads, the R3000 offers better overlap and longer soak time to reduce runoff. It operates at pressures down to 10 psi. Protected seals and thrust bearings extend its life. Re-nozzling is fast and easy with a color-coded plastic nozzle.
