The USDA reported on Monday, April 24, that there have been no positive findings of Starlink corn in any shipments tested so far this marketing year.
Since the USDA began testing for StarLink corn, a biotech variety unapproved in Japan, in November 2000, findings have steadily decreased with only one positive test in marketing year 2004/2005.
Japan imported approximately 16 million metric tons (648 million bushels) of corn in marketing year 2004/2005, more than 15 million tons (591 million bushels) of the total was U.S corn.
