U.S. corn growers will have a new tool to help control grass and broadleaf weeds for the 2016 planting season.

BASF has announced that Armezon Pro, a residual herbicide, has been granted full Environmental Protection Agency registration for 2016 for use on all corn types.

The new herbicide is a combination of topramezone, the active ingredient in Armezon herbicide, and dimethenamid-P, the active ingredient in Outlook herbicide. This chemistry combination helps provide both contact and residual weed control.
“Growers want flexible options to control weeds based on their farm’s needs,” said Daniel Waldstein, BASF Technical Market Manager. “Armezon PRO herbicide has a wide application window and low use rate, resulting in time, storage and money savings.” 
High bioavailability allows Armezon PRO to provide control under wet and dry conditions for better control of grass and small-seeded broadleaf weeds, such as foxtails, barnyardgrass, waterhemp and Palmer amaranth.
Contact and residual performance offers consist control and reduces the the risk of a re-spray. “With Armezon PRO herbicide, we hope to give growers confidence in their weed control.”
