Nebraska Corn Board Re-elects Holzfaster

Jon Holzfaster of Paxton has been re-elected chairman of the Nebraska Corn Board for the 2008-2009 term.

Holzfaster raises corn, wheat, soybeans and operates a background feedyard on the family farm based in Perkins County. He is a Nebraska LEAD XIII graduate and majored in ag economics at the University of Nebraska. He serves on the board's Research and Executive committees, as well as on the National Corn Grower Association's Ethanol Action Team.

Dennis Gengenbach, who produces corn and soybeans and operates a cow-calf business near Smithfield, was elected vice chairman. Gengenbach chairs the board's Research Committee and serves on the Executive Committee. Gengenbach is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in animal science and has doctorate in reproductive physiology from Cornell University.

Alan Tiemann, who raises corn and soybeans near Seward, was re-elected to serve secretary/treasurer. He serves on the board's Market Development Committee and the Executive Committee. Tiemann was recently re-elected to a two-year term to serve on the U.S. Grains Council board of directors.

The Nebraska Corn Board administers funds collected from the state's ¼-cent-per-bushel corn checkoff. Those dollars are invested in market development, research and education programs.
