Despite some reports to the contrary, export elevators along the Mississippi River in the Mid-South including ADM, Bunge, Cargill and Consolidated Grain and Barge are offering new crop bids for grain sorghum.

The Sorghum Checkoff encourages sorghum farmers to contact their local elevators for specific bid information and elevator locations.

“Sorghum farmers in the Mid-South region have had a great relationship with the export houses as they provide an excellent market for our crop,” said Stewart Weaver, Sorghum Checkoff board member and Arkansas producer.

“Currently, more than 30 percent of our crop is exported and I am extremely optimistic that through our partnership with the U.S. Grains Council, the multi-national grain companies and the Sorghum Checkoff programming, we can continue to increase our export demand through the center gulf.”
