Sheilah: Everyone has been adjusting well since we moved into our new home. The boys have adjusted better than we could have imagined and are settling into their new routines. They are eating better and sleeping better. This makes mommy and daddy extremely happy!

They both love looking out the windows. It seems like there is never a dull moment.

Mike: One of the first things we did as a family in the new house was walk over to the soybean bin and watch the semi get loaded with beans. It was a cold, snowy morning, but the boys were determined to get out there and watch the truck get loaded.

We also have a friend trapping on the farm, and every morning the boys wait to watch him drive out and check his traps and wait to see if he calls to report a catch. They were both excited to see the coyote that was brought up to the house.

A local gas company is working nearby and is hauling some dirt onto the farm from a pipeline project. Cole and Caleb run to the window to see what truck it is and watch them dump. They get super excited and are especially good at telling mommy and daddy when the guys get stuck.

One day, the neighbor had a cow get out and it spent a lot of time in the fields behind our house. The boys ran from window to window just watching the cow.

Sheilah: Mike and I have both adapted into new routines as well. It is so nice just to be able to take the boys out to play and to go for a walk without having to load them into the car and drive over to the farm to do it. Since we have had a mild winter, we have been outside a lot playing in the mud — one thing our new house seems to have plenty of.

Needless to say, my new washing machine has been getting a workout.

Mike: It has been a real blessing just to be able to walk out the door and onto the farm. It’s even nicer to be able to get out early and work on things and walk back in the house when everyone is up and eating breakfast, too. I knew that it would be nice to not have that drive back and forth anymore, but I didn’t realize how nice it was actually going to be.

I can look over at the house and see the boys watching out the windows. I can only imagine what they are thinking.

Sheilah: We can’t wait to see what the next few months have in store for us at our new home. Spring will be here soon, and I’m sure a whole new list of adventures will be waiting for us to watch outside those windows.
