Iroquois County, IL

It has been a wet week. It rained varying amounts from Sept. 26 through 29. Most of the rain came on Sept. 26 and 27; our farms received 1.85-2.25 in. This has prevented any harvest activity over the past week.

At this point, very few acres have been harvested in the local area. After 2009, local farmers may be less patient in waiting for the corn to dry down in the field. Local corn development is anywhere from the dent stage with the milkline 66% down the kernel up to the few acres that have been harvested.

Most soybean fields range from R7 up to R8, or full maturity. Only a few fields of soybeans in the area have been harvested.

The local closing bids for Sept. 29 were $6.17 for nearby corn, $5.38 for fall 2012 corn, $12 for nearby soybeans and $11.94 for fall 2012 soybeans.
