The lack of moisture across the Corn Belt is affecting not only yields, which WASDE recently reduced estimates of by 20 bu./acre, but the corn markets. Prices have gone up in the last month for both corn and soybeans. Kent Thiesse, vice president, MinnStar Bank, Lake Crystal, MN, and former Extension educator, says there is an upside in that high prices are providing marketing opportunities. The big question is predicting the number of bushels that'll be available to sell.
