The eighth annual Conservation in Action Tour, organized by the Conservation Technology Information Center (CTIC), will explore innovative conservation farming practices and productive partnerships in southeastern Minnesota on August 11 and 12, 2015.

“This year’s Conservation in Action Tour will showcase the remarkable diversity in southeast Minnesota, from the wide range of crops to the diverse practices farmers employ to improve soil health, protect water quality and keep the air clean,” says Karen A. Scanlon, executive director of CTIC. “Most importantly, it will showcase the wide variety of benefits that can result from adopting these conservation systems, from better soils to cleaner water, greater profits and a brighter future.

“A central theme running through this year’s tour is the remarkable partnerships that Minnesota’s agriculture community has engaged in to create productive conservation programs,” Scanlon adds. “The state’s legacy of collaboration provides great models our participants can bring back home with them, along with insight into conservation practices and a growing network of contacts from across the country.”

Recent Conservation in Action Tours have drawn together more than 200 farmers, crop consultants, agribusiness leaders, government officials, resource agency representatives, researchers and conservation group organizers to explore conservation practices close-up and exchange ideas during lively social and networking events.
Details on the tour and registration are available online. For more information, call CTIC at (765) 494-9555.
