Acres enrolled in state or local conservation program acres may not be eligible to also receive DCP program benefits, according to the state Farm Service Agency office.

If the conservation program uses an easement or agreement that prohibits haying, grazing and annual planting of a crop for grain, these same acres are not eligible to receive benefits under the DCP program, says Brian Wolford, FSA state executive director.

"It's important that participants inform their local FSA service center of all conservation programs that are in place on their enrolled farms," he says, "so that a review can be completed prior to payments being issued. If it is determined after the fact that acres are not eligible, this may result in refunds by all parties enrolled in the DCP program.

FSA supports participation in all conservation programs at the federal, state or local level, Wolford says.

"As part of that support, FSA needs to mesh the DCP program with those programs."
