Conservation Expo 2008 hits Decatur Aug. 19-21 at Progress City USA.

The event is a showcase for conservation and land improvement practices and equipment. Tours will showcase wetland restoration and enhancement, rock chute construction, pervious pavement installation, bio-swale/rain garden construction, underground storm water detention installation, silt fence installation, sub-surface drainage tile installation, and turf reinforcement mat installation.

In addition, a demonstration will show attendees the proper way to install existing vegetation protection around the pervious pavement construction site.

Conservation professionals will provide information at each of the sites throughout the show to discuss installation, cost and benefits to the landowner and watershed.

The Conservation Expo is open each day 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no admission charge and everyone is welcome to attend. Food and drink concessions will be available on site.

A Back Hoe Rodeo is scheduled for Aug. 19. It will begin once the final public tour is complete, which will be around 5 p.m.
