POPULAR WAGON, ONCE UPON A TIME: This wagon and others like it were state-of-the-art on general purpose farms in Indiana in the 1920s. Tom J. Bechman

The wagon pictured here and wagons like it sold by other companies, most pulled by horses, were common in Indiana a century ago. Wagons like this one, preserved in good shape, provide a glimpse into what farming and farm life were like then.

You won’t see this wagon driving along a public road. But you can find it if you’re exploring great places to visit in Indiana. If you’ve seen it, report where you saw it. You’ll be eligible for a gift card awarded to one person out of all those submitting correct entries.

Simply jot down where you saw this wagon. Be specific. Email your answer to [email protected]. Include your physical mailing address. You can also mail your answer to: Indiana Prairie Farmer, 599 N., 100 W., Franklin, IN 46131.

Here are a couple of hints: First, know that the wagon is right at home in its surroundings. It was spotted on a farmstead designed to replicate a 1920s farm in Indiana.

Second, getting the picture required walking to where the wagon was parked, off the regular trail.

Have you seen something unique, unusual or just downright funny, either along Indiana roadways or off the beaten path? Perhaps it’s something old or out of place. Maybe it’s a sign with a funny saying. Send a description, along with a digital, horizontal, large-format photo. Include your physical address. If it’s used in the Spotted…in Indiana column, you will receive a gift card.
