Let’s take a look at the main soybean and corn producing states in Brazil and United States. A special highlight for the states of Kansas, Iowa, Illinois and Texas, well-consolidated regions and solid numbers year after year.
In Brazil, the main producing states are Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and Mato Grosso. New crop expansion in MATOPIBA (Maranhão, Piauí, Tocantins, and Bahia), led by western Bahia, also helps Brazilian agriculture expansion.
Countless improvements in the local infrastructure has helped the development of these Brazilian regions. As a result, the interior of Brazil is “booming.” Whoever has traveled to these places in the past seven years can follow the development of agriculture not only in Brazil and the United States, but globally.
These technological and infrastructural advances combined with an increase of the planted area resulted in a new record soybean production of 4.9 billion bushels, a growth of 8.5% from last year. These big figures were also motivated by the high international prices, strong exports, and increase in domestic demand.
Brazil’s soybean planted acreage in 2020/2021 represented a growth of 4.2% compared to a year earlier, or around 95 million acres. Despite all weather issues that this crop faced both in planting and in harvesting, the yield achieved registered an increase of 4.1% compared to 2019/2020.
