As my team and I anticipate National FFA Week, I can’t begin to share with you all how excited we are to travel to different chapters throughout Indiana. National FFA Week is Feb. 18-25.
Chapters throughout Indiana host many different events during these seven days recognizing the blue corduroy jacket we all love. These events range from laser tag and donkey basketball to community service projects like inviting local farmers to breakfast hosted by the FFA chapter or staff of that FFA chapter’s high school. These seven days out of 365 are a highlight of why there are over 800,000 FFA members in the National FFA Organization.
FFA Week has always been something I looked forward to and enjoyed as an FFA member. My chapter brought in meals like pizza or tacos for lunch, which anybody would much rather eat than the school lunch! We always hosted a staff appreciation breakfast to kick-start our week. FFA members cooked eggs, bacon and pancakes for our high school staff.
After school we played Minute-To-Win-It games or held FFA Ag Olympics or the occasional Just Dance competition. Many FFA chapters do these very same things.
I was always so excited to see the state officer visiting whatever event we had going. We talked to them about what they’d been up to. Now that I am that same state officer I looked up to, I am beyond thrilled to meet with members.
Connecting with FFA members, supporters
My team and I are really looking forward to spending time with FFA members throughout Indiana and doing fun events with them. We’re excited to meet more members and make connections throughout Indiana.
National FFA has many opportunities for alumni and supporters to get involved with FFA Week too! Alumni Tuesday highlights past members and alumni supporters by encouraging chapters to host alumni dinners to offer thanks. On Ag Teacher Appreciation Day, National FFA asks current and past members to share stories and pictures about their ag teacher. Share them using #ffaweek.
Give FFA Day asks for supporters to donate to local chapters, state associations or National FFA. National Wear Blue Day has supporters wearing blue FFA apparel to represent FFA’s National Blue color.
These are just a few great ways to show your support to the future of agriculture. My team and I are excited to share our stories from this great week and hear how you supported FFA.
