PowerPoint, a program that is a part of the Microsoft Office Suite, is the most popular presentation software available. It may be the standard in your smart office, but it is not the only option. Here are 6 presentation software alternatives to PowerPoint:
1. Prezi – Prezi is browser-based and reimagines how you think presentation software should work. It is dynamic, engaging, but takes some time to make custom slides. The free version allows you to save files under your username publicly. You can get storage and privacy control for $4.92 per month.
2. Google Slides – Google Slides is completely free and browser-based. It offers templates, syncing across platforms and collaboration with other users. You can also import existing presentation files to convert them.
3. Canva – Canva allows you to create a unique presentation with professionally designed layouts using stock photography or your photography. The browser-based software (also available on iPad) is free to use and offers some premium elements for $1.
4. HaikuDeck – HaikuDeck can be found on the web or in the Apple Store, and allows you to edit your presentation starting with themes. The software is simple to use, and there is a free version; however, that version does make your presentations publicly available. You can upgrade to a pro version with privacy options for $10 per month.
5. Keynote – Apple’s Keynote for Mac is simple and easy to use, and offers unique transitions. Presentations will sync across your Apple devices via iCloud. You can also use Handoff to move and work on your presentation between screens. You can also save Keynote presentations as PowerPoint files for better collaboration with PC users.
6. Slides – Slides offers publicly available decks at no cost, but a pro version costs $6 monthly. Like the others, the software is available online and provides collaboration tools, but one of its best features is the ability to remote control your presentation from your smartphone.
Not ready to navigate to a new presentation software yet? Microsoft offers free online resources including PowerPoint 2016 training, to help you learn the software better.
