Product of the Year Walkaround

The new S8 Series of combines from Gleaner required a significant upgrade to move the line forward including the introduction of the new Class 8 S88 machine. Just what does it take to meet the demands of higher horsepower and greater material throughput? Kevin Bien, marketing manager, Gleaner, offers a look at the combine, and the features engineered over three years to reach the S8 series and roll out a Class 8 machine.

The combine series was introduced to readers just ahead of the Farm Progress Show last year, as part of a special event held in Hesston, Kan. Farm Industry News was on hand for the rollout.

Later the S8 was named a 2014 FinOvation winner and then readers voted in our online poll and named the series Product of the Year. So check out the video walkaround about what the company did from front to back to build the new S8 Series.

Bien offers a range of details that offer insight into what it takes to boost capacity and meet the high-capacity challenge for new harvesters.
