As part of Cotton Incorporated's integral role in the cotton industry to keep U.S. cotton producers competitive against man-made fibers, several staff members will give presentations at the 2006 Beltwide Cotton Conferences in San Antonio, Texas, to discuss activities stemming from the Cotton Research & Promotion Program that are accomplishing this task.

The presentations are scheduled Jan. 4-6 during Beltwide, and are geared to provide insight for producers and industry leaders about current initiatives that continue to keep U.S. cotton the best selling fiber in the U.S. and one of the best selling fibers in the world.

Cotton Incorporated President and CEO, J. Berrye Worsham will kick off the organization's presentations at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4 by giving a general update on the production research and general activities of Cotton Incorporated. At 4 p.m. Wednesday, staff members from Cotton Incorporated's Agricultural Research Division will be discussing a new record keeping software tailored specifically for cotton, with representatives from MapShots, Inc. and Red Wing Software Inc. detailing the specifics of the software programs.

Continuing on Thursday of the conference, Cotton Incorporated Associate Director of Agricultural Research Jeanne Reeves will moderate a panel of cotton market experts during the 2006 Economic Outlook Symposium beginning at 10:30 a.m. Following the panel will be a Fiber Quality Research presentation at 1:30 p.m., given by Cotton Incorporated Associate Director of Fiber Quality Research Vickie Martin about the importance of maintaining a competitive advantage in the international marketplace by providing reliable third-party classing data.

Concluding the Cotton Incorporated presentations on Friday, Jan. 6 will be Cotton Incorporated Director of Textile Chemistry Research Bill Rearick and Research Chemist Kristie Phillips providing updates at 8 a.m. on recent Textile Chemistry innovations including Storm Denim, the 100 percent cotton performance denim and other developments of wrinkle release testing in cotton-rich fabrics.
