Chip Morgan receives top SCPA award

The Southern Crop Production Association's highest award for service to agriculture and the agricultural chemicals industry by a person outside the association was presented to Chip Morgan, left, executive vice president of the Delta Council. The 2000 Don W. Beise Award was presented at the group's annual meeting at Amelia Island, Fla. Morgan was cited for being "a strong, long-standing voice for agriculture and the importance of crop protection products in the Mississippi Delta region." He was instrumental in establishing the state's Agromedicine Program, and for his work with state and federal government and elected officials on issues related to the ag chemical industry. Morgan supported and helped lead the first successful container recycling program in the country, developed the Delta F.A.R.M. Program that commits growers to engage in stewardship activities on the farm, including the use of pesticide products. He has served in numerous capacities as a policy analyst and spokesperson on national, state, and regional legislative issues. Gene Maddux, Triangle Chemical Co., presented the award.
