The regulations for purchasing and applying auxin herbicides have changed. Here are the regulations for Mississippi.

Farmers, crop consultants and others who will purchase or apply auxin herbicides this year have new restrictions they must follow to be in compliance with pesticide labels. Those regulations may vary from state to state, so anyone who will apply these materials should contact the appropriate State Department of Agriculture or Extension service before loading sprayers.
In addition to the staying in compliance, following the auxin guidelines will be crucial to maintain the products beyond the 2018 season.
The State of Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce has released a Q&A guideline for compliance, including necessary steps to purchase and apply auxin herbicides.
Step 1 – To Purchase
Q. What do I need to purchase auxin containing herbicides for in-crop use for the 2018 growing season?
You must have an active pesticide certification.
Complete the one-time Dicamba/2,4-D herbicide training, if you did not complete it in 2017.
Training may be accessed at http://www.auxintraining.com - Dicamba/2,4-D Herbicide Technology Training (Required for purchase). After successful completion, individuals receive email verification from the MDAC and endorsement on their pesticide certification.
Step 2 – To Apply
All applicators who plan to physically apply the dicamba herbicides (XtendiMax, FeXapan and Engenia) must undergo applicator training required by the new label. This training was recently imposed due to label changes by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Q. What are the new Federal label changes for XtendiMax, FeXapan and Engenia for 2018?
All 3 products are Federal Restricted Use.
Annual applicator training is required: Training may be accessed at http://www.auxintraining.com - Dicamba Applicator Training. After successful completion, individuals will receive a notice of completion and must retain for 2 years.
Robust record-keeping requirements.
Restrictions to wind speeds and application times.
Tank clean-out.
Susceptible crop language.
Q. What is required if I did not complete the Dicamba/2,4-D Herbicide Technology Training (Required for Purchase) in 2017, but I am purchasing and physically applying XtendiMax, FeXapan and Engenia for the 2018 growing season?
Completion of the Dicamba/2,4-D Herbicide Technology Training (Required for purchase) is required and will be accepted by MDAC to cover individuals for both purchase and application in 2018.
Q. What is required if I completed the Dicamba/2,4-D Herbicide Technology Training (Required for Purchase) in 2017 and I am physically applying XtendiMax, FeXapan and Engenia for the 2018 growing season?
Dicamba Applicator Training must be completed to fulfill the new federal label requirements for annual training.
Q. What is required if I completed the Dicamba/2,4-D Herbicide Technology Training (Required for purchase), but I am NOT the individual making the physical application of XtendiMax, FeXapan and Engenia?
Those individual(s) you are supervising are required to complete the annual Dicamba Applicator Training.
Q. Are there any other auxin training courses I can take to fulfill these requirements?
No, only the Dicamba/2,4-D Herbicide Technology Training (Required for purchase) and Dicamba Applicator Training provided by Mississippi State University – Extension Service has been approved by the Mississippi Department of Agriculture & Commerce.
