While there's been a huge increase in cash rents for farmland in the past decade, rents have leveled out for 2011. Randy Hertz with Hertz Real Estate Services reports an increase in more creative shared lease arrangements to more fairly split profits between land owner and renter.

Randy helps manage farmland for a wide variety of landowners who live all across the U.S. He says most of the owners are very interested in their land. They want the land well maintained and preserved for the future.
