Across Colorado, there’s a growing cadre of farmers who sell through farmers markets, roadside stands or even direct through Community Supported Agriculture programs. In Colorado, an important marketing tool is the Colorado Farm Fresh Directory that allows consumers to find these food suppliers.
The Colorado Department of Agriculture is getting ready to publish the 2018 edition of the directory, but the CDA staff wants to be sure it’s carrying the most information from the state’s growers. The directory offers farmers the chance to promote products, markets, even agritourism opportunities in the state.
And it’s becoming popular off the farm as well: “Consumers love Farm Fresh, and they look forward to the new edition every year,” says Wendy White, CDA marketing specialist.
More than 100,000 copies of this directory are produced and distributed in June to consumers through libraries, Extension offices, farmers markets, welcome centers, chambers of commerce, home milk delivery services and other businesses.
But CDA has gone farther. The department now produces that directory in a mobile app. Traveling in Colorado and looking for a farmers market nearby? If you have the handy Colorado Farm Fresh Directory app, you can search quickly. Seeking to join a CSA? This is the place to start.
The deadline to get your farm included in the directory is Feb. 15. The fee to be included in the directory is $25.
Consumers can find the directory by visiting coloradoagriculture.com and searching “Farm Fresh.” You can find a Farm Fresh listing form at the website as well.
That same search will give you links online to the Apple Store or Google Play for the smartphone app to download the directory.
