2. Brazil's Agriculture Minister is criticizing a 2008 commitment from the country's grain traders not to buy soybeans from land cleared in the Amazon rainforest. Farming group Aprosoja Brasil, which has the support of President Jair Bolsonaro, is lobbying to end the deal. – Reuters

3. Farmers impacted by wet weather are being given more flexibility to pay 2019 crop insurance premiums. Farmers with a premium billing date of Aug. 15 are being given until the end of January to pay the premiums without accuring interest. – Bismarck Tribune

4. The U.S. and China trade negotiations appear to have hit a snag as the U.S. is trying to secure stronger concessions from China on intellectual property protections in exchange for rolling back some of the tariffs. – CNBC

6. Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers has rehired his former agriculture secretary less than a week after Senate Republicans voted to fire him. Brad Pfaff has been hired as the state Department of Administration's director of business and rural development.
