I met Sherri Kannmacher a few years ago, when she and her husband, Mark, were young farmer participants in our Cultivating Master Farmers program. She was thoughtful, engaging and eager to learn how to make their farm better. Turns out, she's a whole lot more and she's being recognized for it.
Sherri is the Midwest region winner in Monsanto's 2012 Farm Mom of the Year Contest, and between now and May 12, you can go here, read her story and cast a vote for her. Sherri and four other regional winners were chosen from a pool of 1,000 nominees – 1,000! – from across the country. The four other regional winners are from Kansas, South Dakota, Michigan and Virginia. Sherri and Mark and their four daughters hail from Martinsville, Illinois.
Sherri, is, I'll add, the real deal. And as further evidence, her nomination came not from her husband or her children (which still would've been really nice) but from her mother-in-law. How great is that? Be sure to read what her lovely mother-in-law had to say about her. Her words are the stuff of good farm family relationships.
So if you would, drop everything you're doing, click here and vote for Sherri. You're allowed one vote per email address. Monsanto will announce the winner on Mother's Day. What a fabulous Mother's Day gift for this hard-working Illinois farm wife!
Martinsville farm wife Sherri Kannmacher is one of five regional finalists in Monsanto's 2012 Farm Mom of the Year contest.
