With soybean planting just around the corner for farmers, now is a great time to download and delve into the Extreme Beans app. The app not only offers great information from a study from multiple universities about soybean management practices, it has two calculators to help you determine what's best for your farm.

The seeding rate calculator lets you input your region (north or central and south). You then input your cost per 140,000 seeds as well as your price per bushel. The calculation will give you a seeding rate for maximum return, 99% return or 95% return.

In the input calculator, you plug in your input costs to determine additional bushels needed to pay for the inputs you use. You first plug in your grain sale price/bushel, then add in your estimated costs from seed cost per acre to additional nutrients above the norm, and added seed treatments, inoculants, foliar fungicides, etc.

The results page will tell you how many additional bushels per acre you need to get from your soybeans in order to recoup the input cost.
