2016 Model Year Combine Preview

In the last five years, manufacturers had to devote much of their R&D dollars to redesigning engines that met Tier 4 emissions regulations. Now that most of that work done, machinery manufacturers can now focus time and dollars to other areas, combines being a big one.

Many of the major OEMs have come out with new combine models or feature upgrades for 2016. To save you some time in comparison shopping, here are some company links that will give you roundup of what’s new.

Case IH Axial-Flow 140 series combines

The company has made some major enhancements to its Axial-Flow 140 series combines for 2016, including these:

  • New two-speed electronic shift
  • New lightweight concaves
  • Higher-capacity cleaning system
  • A larger clean grain elevator with improved delivery
  • Better residue management system
  • Intuitive user interface

John Deere S-series combines

For model year 2016, John Deere is adding performance boosting features to its S-Series Combines, 600C Series Corn Heads and 600F HydraFlex Draper Platforms, as well as introducing a new 12-row folding corn head.

S-Series combine updates:

  • 12 percent larger cleaning sieve and a new shoe drive system with a beefed up, wider belt with double the tensile strength.
  • Dyna-Flow Plus cleaning system, redesigned for more strength and capacity.
  • Active Terrain Adjustment, now a factory-installed option
  • New Active Yield automated calibration attachment
  • Onboard air compressor for combine cleaning and maintenance in-field.

New in Headers and Platforms

  • New 12-row corn head (612FC model) with an improved row unit slip clutch and drive shaft interface
  • Expanded line of HydraFlex Drapers with new streamlined end dividers, a wider center-feed section, and 30 percent stronger reel fingers.

AGCO  3300 Command Series Corn Head

Agco is introducing the all-new 3300 Command series corn heads. The new corn head is completely redesigned to deliver more capacity and faster harvesting rates with reduced header loss. The new series is available in both 8 row and 12 row, as well as non-chopping or chopping.

Following are links to the other major OEM manufactures of combines introduced prior to this summer:

New Holland

CR Series and CX Elevation combines

Last January, added a new model, the CR6.80, to its CR combine series, focused on the farming operation that has a mix of crops and livestock. The CR6.80 provides a maximum 374 hp and is designed to work with grain heads up to 30 feet wide and 8-row corn heads. It is designed to offer the same smart features of the larger models in the CR Series but does not require the higher capacity of the larger CR models.
