Bigger rakes

Vermeer’s latest addition to the hydraulically driven, twin-basket TwinRake line sweeps up to 28 ft. wide. The R-28 TwinRake features an adjustable raking width from a minimum of 20 ft. up to the 28-ft. maximum. Hydraulic windrow-width control allows the operator to vary windrow widths from 3 to 6 ft. Clean, custom-sized, box-style windrows can be perfectly matched to the baler pickup for more efficient baling.

The operator can adjust raking widths and windrow widths via an in-cab monitor and can switch the unit from transport to field ready without leaving the tractor seat. The transport width is 102 in. Mechanical jacks, located at the front and rear of the basket, mechanically adjust tooth-to-ground clearance.

An optional feature allows basket speed to be hydraulically adjusted independent of the ground speed. This helps accommodate different crops or conditions.

The R-28 TwinRake is constructed of a 5- x 7-in. rectangular steel mainframe with a continuous round, cross-section toolbar. Each side features a heavy-duty, seven-bar basket, with 182 tines per basket. The tines are rubber mounted for longer life and reduced maintenance.
