Belt for bins

Seeing a need for a faster, gentler way to move grain from a bin to a semi, two farm families in Grundy County, IA, teamed up to form GrainWay L.L.C. Together, the Johnsons and Sherfields developed a new conveyor system that can load a semi in less than 10 minutes while being very gentle on grain.

At only 8 1/2 in. tall and 13 in. wide the GrainWay conveyor takes up little space, but will unload at over 5,000 bushel per hour. With a wheel kit, the system is portable, so you can use one conveyor in many similar sized bins. Two carts with jacks add on-yard portability. A long lasting 2-ply chevron rubber belt can be set up flat or at an incline.

The unit is quieter than an auger. Contributing to smooth operation are 1 ı in. bearings and industrial strength rollers. A plastic slider plate allows for easy bin access. There’s a choice of hydraulic or electric drives. Different lengths of conveyors work in bin sizes of 18ft. to 60ft.The unit self cleans in seconds. A clean up bracket is welded to the center chute. Other features include a powder coat paint finish and a wear-resistant plastic deflector inside the discharge. The conveyor is airtight so an aeration system can be used while the unit is in place. Because of its speed and gentle handling capabilities, the GrainWay conveyor would work well for seed or even for commercial grain.

The 2730 Incline model with the electric drive kit and wheel kit costs $4,092. Setting up each bin costs $360. The company typically sells one conveyor to service six bins, which costs a total of $6,252. For more information, contact: GrainWay L.L.C., 17333 130th St., Aplington, IA 50604.
