BASF Web site gives another savings level

An addition to a popular new BASF Web site, the company offers another level of savings opportunities for cotton growers seeking crop inputs with optimum yield potential and cost efficiency.

The new savings opportunity offered through the Web site results from a co-promotion effort announced by BASF Corp. and Aventis CropScience.

The co-promotion essentially increases the total savings potential to about $49 on Pix Plus plant regulator and Prowl herbicide and adds two Aventis products, Finish harvest aid and Temik insecticide/nematicide, to the multi-level savings program offered to growers via the BASF Web site.

“By visiting the Web site, cotton growers can evaluate a broad range of high-value crop inputs, including herbicides, insecticides, plant regulators and harvest aids. They can use the ‘Pix Plus Savings Configurator’ to calculate potential crop savings and contact their dealer,” said Scott Gibson, BASF strategic market manager, Southern Markets. “It's just that simple.”

BASF and Aventis cited the importance of the cotton market as the reason they launched the co-promotion effort.

“We want to help cotton growers produce higher-yielding and higher-quality cotton at a better cost of production,” said Al Luke, Aventis marketing team leader for Cotton, Rice and Peanuts.

Since BASF launched the Web site in late January, 896 growers have logged on to the site to calculate their cost-savings, according to site tracking statistics through April 20.

It's easy to determine cost savings opportunities at the Web site, Gibson said. Growers input the quantity of crop protection products needed for specific acres of their crops — cotton, rice, soybeans, corn and peanuts. The ‘Pix Plus Savings Configurator’ calculates input savings based on the portfolio and quantity of products selected.

For example, growers will receive a free gallon of Pix plant regulator with the purchase of three gallons of Pix Plus plant regulator. The new BASF and Aventis co-promotion will save cotton growers about $2 per gallon on Pix Plus for every gallon of Pix Plus, 30 pounds of Temik and gallon of Finish they buy.

The Web site also provides product label information, dealer locations, additional savings and Harvest Partners offers. BASF brands in the Web site include Pix Plus plant regulator, Prowl, Facet, Cadre, Squadron, Storm, Frontier, Conclude Xact and Guardsman herbicides and Thimet Lock ‘N Load insecticide. Producers who grow a variety of crops including cotton, rice, corn, soybeans and peanuts can benefit from the savings.

To take advantage of this offer, growers must register on the Web site and talk to their dealer. For more information, check out the Pix Plus Web site at
